What the hell do I know!!!

A while back I came up with a few posts suggesting that SSPs were a fine choice for the interested AP shooter.

I received abuse, stating that only a relic like myself would use anything but a Steyr or Morini CA and would go down in ignominious defeat for even considering one.

I note that there were THREE SSPs in the Classifieds that did not last even ONE day before they were snapped up, while other types might have hung on for a week or two.

Don't you purchasers realize that you are going against combined wisdom of the mighty shooters on here? What do you have to say for yourselves?

Most world class competitors would probbly not lose any points
using a ssp. It seems all the stress of charging a ssp just ruins your
heartrate. And maybe someday when I can shoot 550+ consistently
I may need a pcp. But any quality recoiless or pneumatic pistol made in the last 40 years will be a good enough shooter for most. The pistols of the 1970's were capable of .07" accoracy. Now it up to .04" accuracy.

I believe that a new ssp pistol would sell great. The Izzy 46m is a
good shooter. But if you believe the equipment is holding you back,
well then spend $3000.00 on the proper kit.

I agree that a single stroke pneumatic match air pistol can be a fine choice for most shooters. Perhaps if one was a top world class shooter who might find the effort (often slight) of cocking/charging affecting their heart detrimentally it might not be the best selection. There are a number of SSP pistols that require minimum effort to cock (IZH46M, FWB 103/102 and Pardini K58 to mention a few). The shot consistentancy and simplicity of not having the additional paraphenalia of a pcp is very attractive indeed. My FWB 103 has better shot to shot consistency of velocity than any of my pcp or Co2 pistols. Regards, Joe G.
