Any advantage to "slab sided" barrel?

Post by EdM »

Good day:

Am considering a Ruger .22 (probably from their 22/45 series).

They offer models with the traditional round barrel and also a slab sided version.

Is there some advantage of the slab side versus the round (or vice versa)?

Thank you.

A slab-sided barrel adds more weight up front by the muzzle. This will give you less muzzle lift during recoil and allows you to get back on track faster during a rapid fire string.
