Another MG2 problem

Last night, duringthe rapidfire stage. my MG2 suddenly jammed again. A spent case was stovepiped as the base of the case had been stuck under the front of the bullet Insert Lever (BIL). The gun has suffered countless stovepipes, but not this particular type of stovepipe.
I removed the case, and tried to cycle the action, but in vain. The bolt could be moved a few millimetres to the rear only. The problem could not be solved at the firing point, and subsequently the gun was emptied under the RO's supervision.
Back home, I began investigating the jam. When the slidecover was removed, a short pin fell out (!). This turned out to be the short pin which serves as a pivoting pin for the BIL (shaft). By turning the slidecover upside down, the BIL then fell out. (Btw. this is BIL no. 3 og 4 in this gun). But this time the BIL was intact!
The small plunger indexing in the two very small holes in the BIL (new verson) was still in proper position. I assume the short pin (BIL-shaft), unnoticed by me, had worked itself partly out of position (never happened before). This allowed the plunger to become lodged in the narrow slit under the BIL, hindering the BIL's movement, which again jammed the action.
By reinsertion of the short BIL-shaft, I noticed that the shaft did not have a snug fit in the frame.
Is this correct?
If not, which remedy may cure this?
