Are there any multi-shot AP competitions around?

Just curious...is anybody aware of anyone putting on multi-shot AP competitions (rapid fire, falling plate, etc.) in the US?

Hmm. I guess this is one of those things where there's not yet a critical mass of people with the appropriate equipment living within a reasonable distance of each other. It's a shame; I know a number of people with LP5/LP50/P56/P58 but not enough close enough together to get a match together.

We use to run both events at our Canadian Pistol nationals and at the Grand Prix in Toronto, they have now been dropped at both events.

We ran some 5SAP matches last year at Lafayette Gun Club. We can certainly do so again.
A 5-shot AP is a loads of fun to shoot. And, if somebody really wants to improve their technique (on any 5 shot course of fire), it's a great way to do so.

I'm not so sure about that Stan.
A large element of Rapid Fire and Standard Pistol is recoil control and recovery. This is not a factor with a properly set up LP5/50.
When we had to change to using Air for the 25m events we found that the top cartridge shooters in an event were not necessarily the top air shooters, and vice versa.
We also found that, on average, Standard Pistol scores were 10 points higher with Air (allowing 500g triggers but gauging at 4.5mm).

Hi David,
The reason I said that is we have far too many shooters in the USA who start in some form of 5 shot competition and all they do is attempt to manage the recoil. Their focus is on that issue and less on controlling the sights and trigger.
By taking recoil out of the equation (with a 5SAP), errors in alignment and trigger control become more obvious. And, they can work on solving those issues before adding in the element of recoil.
Convincing cartridge shooters that time spent training with an air pistol is a hard sell. But, for those who will invest the time, the rewards are there.
BTW, my LP5 has a 1,000 gram trigger.
