CMP - air pistol?

Post by Donny »

Anyone know if the youth CMP program that recognizes air pistol?

I checked the most recent national results and didn't find any evidence that air pistol is recognized by the CMP program.

Donny,
Aside from the multi (NRA/CMP/USA Shooting) venture called Progressive Position Pistol there is no CMP Program that recognizes Air Pistol that I know of. NRA/4H have awards programs that recognize air pistol though.

Donny ...

One good option if you are interested in Olympic Style AP is to get on the USA Shooting site and look for PTO matches in your area. Even in major national matches there are lots of juniors shooting in those.

In a few months USA Shooting will publish a request for sanctioning of the 2011 JO Qualifiers and in late OCT they will publish those matches in the states. You can get that list and look at who in your area is doing JO Qualifiers in your area.

If you PM me w/ your email address I'll send you last year's (2010) host list. It's a small 69K PDF file.
Also if your state does not seem to offer a pistol PTO, call the contact and see if they'll add pistol this year... I know we would here in NM if even one person asked. It's really nothing to put an AP shooter on the line with rifle shooters.
