Sling Help, what type?

I have just started some smallbore shooting. I'm a service rifel shooter, so I'm really only familiar with the service rifle (military) sling, of course. I have briefly tried what I will call two different types of match rifle slings. At a Highpower Long Range match, one competitor let me try on his match rifle sling from his .308. It was of a kind that seems to "self tighten"on your upper arm. It reminds me of what I saw in Creedmoor Sports' catalog made by Fields (they really have two slings in the catalog, so I hope this is clear). I have ONLY tried it on, and this was after shooting was over, so I've done no live fire with it. Tonight, I tried on the type from Champion Shooter's Supply which has a kind of "screw" that you tighten at the sling arm to keep the loop snug. I got to actually fire with that and used the left hand version of another left hand shooter. It seemed nice enough, but I have to admit, the type previously mentioned seems simpler in that you somehow just pull the thing after basic adjustment, and it snugs up vs. adjusting the second one and then tightening the thumbscrew. Often, though, things don't always work as one would expect. Can anyone give me some guidance based on these two types? I shoot left handed, so this may be a factor in actual product choice, if it's built specifically for use on either side.

Thanks,

Danny

Fields makes a sling that has two buckles and the one I ordered was supposed to be right handed but would only work corectly on the right arm { clearly for a lefty] Many high power shooters are using the two buckle sling as it not only is simple to use but also reduces the pulse that shows up from slings that either pinch the arm or too tight. You might also consider the no pulse sling designed by the marine rifle coach. Good Shooting Bill Horton { Tubbs also makes a form of the two buckle that he calls the heart breaker no pulse]

Creedmort has increased the number of slings advertised in their latest catalog and several are designed ti function as no pulse types. One sells for 44 dollars . They still arent the mec though but the prices never reach the stratusfear. Good SHooting Bill Horton
