Sydney Word Cup Finals question -QS
Can someone direct me to the rule or simply explain the QS that was used to determine who shot in the womens air pistol finals?
Teresa Meyers of the USA had a higher center shot count but didn't make the finals because of the QS. Had does this work?
Thanks for all help.

Rule 6.14.6
For Olympic Events (with Finals)
If there is a tie to be eligible for the Finals from the Qualification Round, the tie will be broken by a Shoot-off and the rules for individual ties will not apply for those shooters.
The sub-sections of that rule describe how the shoot-offs are run and what happens in the event of further ties.

For 10m & 50m Pistoltrinity wrote:Do you know the format of the shoot off?
5 minutes combined prep and sighting
5 shots on command, decimal scoring, 75 seconds per shot
If still tied then shot-for-shot until broken
For 25m events
2 minutes prep
Rapid - 1 x 4 second sighting series, 1 x 4 second series non-decimal scoring.
25m Pistol & CF - 1 x Rapid stage sighting series, 1 x Rapid stage series non-decimal scoring
Standard Pistol - 1 x 150 second sighting sries, 1 x 10 second series non-decimal scoring.
In all 25m events, if still tied then a further series until the tie is broken.
Hope this helps
Inner-10s are the first step in tie-breaking, except:Oz wrote:With the shoot-off now used, I wonder why they bother to track inner 10's any more.
Oz
- perfect scores,
- where shoot offs are specified (a/ ties for the last place/s to get into Finals, and b/ 1-3 in Standard and CenreFire Pistol)
Interesting that there were 4-way ties in both 10M events in yesterday's competitions
Cool thank you! So it is like a mini-finals.
Now would they do this in the regular competition area? Or in the finals area?
I've never seen one of these. Do they just call all those who are tied on to their competition positions after protest time has expired, and call the 5 min prep/sighters?

The Shoot-off must begin as soon as possible and practicable after the Protest Time has expired. If the Shoot-off is not held at a prearranged time that has been formally announced, the shooters involved must remain in contact with the Chief Range Officer pending an announcement as to time and place.
For the 25m events rule 6.14.6.5 states that the shoot-off is on the qualification range.
On the Qualification range - the Finals hall is unlikely to be ready in the needed configuration at the time of the shoot-offtrinity wrote:Cool thank you! So it is like a mini-finals.

New bays are assigned. For 10M and 25M relays, the competitors in the shoot-off might not come from the last relay.
