sitting position

The small-bore league I am a member of goes by a 4 position format. The problem I'm having is that in the sitting position I can very clearly see my heartbeat. I have to try to release the shot in between pulses. Very frustrating. I'm 50 yrs. old and have no problem getting in a good low position. I shoot an Anschutz Model 64 and use a David Tubb "no-pulse" sling and a Creedmore Sports coat meant for High-Power Shooting.
I'm hoping someone out there can give me some ideas on how to minimze the effects of my heartbeat as seen through my sights and hopefully get my scores up there a bit.
thanks to everyone,
Gasmann

Make sure you loosen your belt. There are large veins running down your stomach that will cause a pulse beat. Also, make sure your stomach is hanging out in the air to keep from constricting it. Good luck. Don in Oregon

Most of us will button only the top one or two buttons on the coat (or straps, whichever style you're using). Loosen your waistband, as said. But get used to the pulse bounce, sometimes we can't get rid of it. Timing the shot is important. Some will find that the bounce will start light and get stronger during the hold. Others will find that the bounce settles down with a longer hold. That is something you will have to study and find out for you specifically. PL

Find out where the pulse is coming from. You should be able to feel it back to it's source. My pulse usually comes from my sling arm. Make sure your sling is coming off of your arm so that it isn't pulling from one side or the other. Open up your front side minus one or two buttons on coat. Remember there are two legal sitting positions as well. Good luck, it is a nemesis of mine as well.

I find that I get a significant amount of pulse if my legs touch each other. I make sure that my left calf doesn't touch my right shin. As stated, loosen belt, and unbutton coat, and hang on. Good luck.
