I am new to 10M Air Pistol. I am shopping for my first pistol. I have narrowed it down to the LP2. It seems I would get most of the benefits of the LP10 at a reasonable cost. I would also have a better chance of finding one used. Can anyone lend an opinion, positive or negative, on the LP2?

I did see that thread and it seems to be more about the compact vs. standard length LP2 not about the positive and negatives of the LP2 itself

I am in the same boat. I did lots of research and wanted the Hammerli AP40 due to the extra cylinder and Hammerli quality (Walther). This pistol wasn't available in my size, so I was going to buy the LP2. I felt it was an excellent choice as you said because it had a lot of the great features that the LP10 has. Well, just before I was going to order it, I got an email that CC got some AP40s in and had a small size grip. It arrived today, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I am new to the sport so my input might not be great.

In my competitive career, I used Feinwerkbau, Steyr and Walther air pistols.

Feinwerkbaus are solid guns and have reliable triggers that remain consistent and crisp. Feinwerkbaus are just not well balanced or feel good ergonomically.

Steyrs feel great ergonomically, are well balanced, and the Steyr trigger is crisp and stays crisp.

Walthers feel good ergonomically and are balanced. But within a short period of time the trigger develops a bit of creep. Walther air pistols, historically, have not had very good triggers. They start out alright but they just don't hold up.

My advice is to go with a Steyr.

The FWB problem had a lot to do with a poor grip.

The P44 has a much better grip and good balance (not as good as Steyr, front is a little bit light). But it is pretty expensive.

Indeed, Walther trigger is not that good. There were also cylinders leakage problems reported.

Unless you have the budget and really prefer the P44, I would also advise to go for Steyr.

You need to pick the gun that suits you and feels right in your hand. All the others mentioned are technically capable of drilling out the 10.9, as is the LP2. It's personal fit and feel that matters - you'll be the one shooting the gun not us.

One of the things the LP2 doesn't have is an adjustable rearsight width - you have a choice of 2 fixed settings, so that's a consideration to bear in mind. I should add that my wife shoots the LP2, as do other people I know - the gun shoots very well if you do your bit.
