At what height does the bottom of a target have to be placed from the ground?
In air pistol
and
In .22lr
Is there a range of heights allowed?
Thanks

If you are asking about ISSF rules then the height of the centre of the target above the level of the floor of the firing piont are:-
10m Range
1.4m +/-50mm
25m Range
1.4m +100mm/-200mm
50m Range
0.75m +/-500mm
All targets in the same group must have the same height +/-10mm.
These heights apply to both pistol and rifle (except 50m Running Target)

10m Range
1.4m +/-50mm = 55.1" +/- 1.96"
25m Range
1.4m +100mm/-200mm = 55.1" + 3.937" / -7.874"
50m Range
0.75m +/-500mm = 29.5" +/-19.865"
Thanks

actually:
50 m ranges 0.75 m +/- 0.50 m
25 m ranges 1.40 m + 0.10 m / - 0.20 m
10 m ranges 1.40 m +/- 0.05 m
and no, it is not the same thing as either the original answer or the inch conversions given by Paulo.

OK guest, please explain the difference between what you have posted and what I posted which was:-
10m Range
1.4m +/-50mm
25m Range
1.4m +100mm/-200mm
50m Range
0.75m +/-500mm

I think you'll find it's
exactly the same as the original answer.

I had not picked up on the change in 6.3.9 of the tolerance given for 25M (was +/- 0.10 m and now +0.10 m/-0.20 m) - David's reply sent me back to 'the book' to check.
Every time I read through the ISSF rules there seems to be another change from the 2005 edition to be discovered - and I get to read the ISSF rules a lot.
ps: I think the pedant was pointing out that 50mm is not necessarily the same as 0.05 m...
...it is a fine point, but technically correct

Hardly. How so?

Well, canĀ“t see why someone with a Latin name like Paulo would convert decent, ops, sorry!, decimal units into inches...;-))
Rule 6.3.9: Height of Target Center (Center of the Ten Ring)
The center of the targets must be within the following heights
when measured from the level of the floor of the firing point:
Standard Height Variation Allowable
300 m ranges 3.00 m +/- 4.00 m
50 m ranges 0.75 m +/- 0.50 m
25 m ranges 1.40 m + 0.10 m / - 0.20 m
10 m ranges 1.40 m +/- 0.05 m
50 m Running Target 1.40 m +/- 0.20 m
10 m Running Target 1.40 m +/- 0.05 m
This comes from the ISSF pdf. The allowable variation for 300m made me consult ISSF (was working on the Brasilian portuguese version of the rules). they say it is correct.
If you do some rule of three figuring it starts to fit.

Nope I'm still lost - 50mm is exactly 5cm which is exactly 0.05m.
If the pedants are picking on the units, they need to get out more.
