Which air pistol pellets are generally considered "premium" by most top level shooters? RWS R10...H&N.....Vogel ? ....any others?
Dont forget, not just pellets that are cheap, or work for you, but is there any pellet that is more frequently used in competition in Steyr LP10's for example, and the best weight and diameter.
Please,.... only observed info about pellets used by top level shooters in LP10's......we all know about technique, practice etc.........just curious to find out what others have observed or use personally.

I haven't seen much published data, what I have seen is self reported scores with pistols and pellets from the Postal Matches on Target Shooting Canada. I've never noticed any 580's, but 570's are reported relatively frequently.

Sure. It's better than nothing, which I believe is the amount of data collected at formal matches regarding this information.

Maybe enough people will reply here with scores, pistol and pellet type to give you more insight, but it's probably unlikely.

There's only a relatively small handful of people who shoot at the level you describe, most of which aren't active on this forum. The only other source would be 2nd hand info; i.e. what someone heard that a particular elite shooter uses.

BTW - I take it back about 580's in the Postal Scores.

May 2008:
1) Senanayake EM - Sri Lanka - Steyr LP10 / RWS 583
2) Gunadasa NPN - Sri Lanka - Steyr LP10 / RWS 578

Good luck!

At least in Europe JSB must be included among the premium pellets.
Personally I mostly shoot H&N simply because they're easily available where I live.

A score of 570 above my present level, but it's "only" an average og 9,5
and I feel that all the "serious" competition pellets are easily capable of this. Air rifle is a very different thing.........

OTOH,
it's still interesenting to see what equipment people use!
