Does your pistol have a name?

I just finished reading The Hobbit to my young son and one detail that really grabbed me was that their swords and daggers had names.

OK, I know King Arthur's sword had a name "Excalibur" I think, and Daniel Boone had Ol' Betsy so apparently the naming weapons is a long and honored tradition.

I've taken to calling a Beretta Trap "Sophia" after Sophia Loren but so far nothing for the M41.

Do your guns have names?

I don't have any named now, but my Grizzly in .45 Winchester Magnum was "Blackie".

Well, if you go by what you see when you shoot, shouldn't your pistol be called "perfect sight alignment"? ;)

My High Standard 106 SM Trophy that is my first target pistol from most of 40 years ago is called "Number One", the gun that started it all.

It depends on how well I shoot at any given match.

No,

I have enough trouble remembering my kids names. If I gave names to all my guns I'd never remember which was which.

Besides the guns never come when I call them anyways.

My air pistol is "the feinwerk"
My .22 pistol "the 22"
My revover is "the 38"
My .22 rifle is "the rifle"
My air rifle is "the Sluggy"

So, I guess I don't really have names for them.............

my online name is named after my anshitz 22 i named it lelongcarabine simply because of its length its 56 inches long ok i know we brits are prone to exagerating but its true and thats without the butt hook in place i cant get a case to fit it i could take the tube off but its such a fuss having to re sight it everytime so i leave it fixed on

With a name like 'Anshitz' who needs a name like Lelong Carabine.
I guess you meant Anschutz.

no i meant Anshitz ,anshutz is the male version of the gun. mine must be female thats why i call it anschitz cos it doesnt matter where i aim on the target i can be set purrrfect on the bull and she (anshitz) will put the shot outside nearly everytime she does it to me i tried talking nicely to her (anshitz) but it still as bad, i have to shoot in the wind its the only time i hit the bull cos she (anshitz) has no control over it. ;-))

this should get some reaction from the female side of the forum lol

Wonderful, you must be nice to the female shooters, i tried and they still out shoot me. I have 40 years experience of shooting and along comes a 15 year old girl and wipes me out. Its my fault though because i coached her as a newbie. She named her gun Bee because she says it stings the opposition.
