Once the Steyr becomes the pistol of choice, how does one determine the correct hand size? Medium or large
Of course right or left is easy ;-)

You need to go to a bunch of matches and talk to some people. Get to know them, let them know that you're considering buying a new pistol and most likely they will offer to let you hold their pistols without even having to ask! If you do ask, 9/10 the owners are very happy to let you give their pistols a hold.

Hold everything you can get your hands on. Don't just assume that the Steyr is for you!

In my experience doing this, I found out that the Morini grips (used on the Steyr and the Morini's) that fit my hand is a medium. I had assumed that I would be using a large because my hands are a little larger than average (I'm 6' 2"). However I have put my hands on a lot of Morini's and Steyr's most of them completely stock, and the medium grips fit my hand perfectly.

Here a link to the Morini size chart: http://www.morini.ch/grips.htm
and the Rink one: http://www.formgriffe.de/alt/english/parameter.htm

As you can see, Rink has much more parameters to adapt the grip to your hand.

Do not assume grips from the same manufacturer are the same size. I just got a FWB P44 to try out. The Morini grips are much thinner than the Morinis on my Steyr LP-10.
