AW93 Rear Sight Pin Removal

Post by tleddy »

Does anyone know how to remove the rear sight pivot pin on the AW93?

I am about to install a mini-mount for an AimPoint H-1 and do not know how to remove the pin.

The pin is a press fit drift pin - just punch it out (gently).

Very gently. I bent mine taking it out, or more likely, putting it back in. It didn't seem to affect the accuracy or repeatability, but the sight does not move as smoothly. I have a new pin but have not worked up the courage to dissassemble the rear sight again.

Take a picture of how it goes back together and where the parts belong.

Be careful so as to not scratch the sight mount area with the drift pin punch.
There are some springs and ball bearings that can be confusing when putting it back together.

Here's the essential part of Don Nygord's instructions for replacing the rear sight.

"1. Remove the grips

2. Remove the black plastic piece from the back of the rear sight area.

3. Drift out the rear sight pivot pin - left to right.

4. Lift off the rear sight assembly, taking care not to lose the two ball bearings and the two springs."
