I am thinking about building my own "silent trap" with Kevlar fabric.

Any one with experience shooting 10M air pistol at Kevlar fabric?

Do-able?

I remember seeing posts that repeated shots in the same spot will cause the fibers to separate, and sooner or later a pellet will get through.

For bullet proof vests, it is a one-time-use.
That is the difference vs a trap where you have repeated shots in essentially the same spot, unless you keep moving the target around the trap.

Kevlar(R) is a light weight solution that is not meant to be a repeated use in the same spot.

I don't think you need Kevlar. A few thicknesses of heavy canvas should do the trick. Or you could try carpet scraps.

The big thing is to secure only one edge...let the flex of the fabric absorb energy.

My dad built a pellet trap using strips of inner tube and the legs of old blue jeans. As was mentioned, the idea is to let them hang loose so that they can move and absorb the energy of the pellets when they get hit.
