Both mens and womens AP gold medals were won using Steyr air pistols. Just in case you wanted to know.

That's not good, I just bought a Morini this year!
It's a good thing I'm not on the Olympic team.

What kind of socks were they wearing?

That's the most important thing to duplicate after all . . . =8^)

(p.s. who is this guy "Steyr" anyhow? I didn't see his name listed . . . )

And how did they pass the sex test, if he could compete in both mens and women's air pistol.

Related question....

My understanding is that the world records of AP10 and FP50 are basically 20 years old.
Besides looking cool, if you are not at an olympic level, how much it matters to splurge on the latest state of the art in ammo and pistol?

When I was shooting free pistol in Italy (20 years ago), I was using a Hammerly with a hexagonal barrel and (I don't remember if it was a joke) the stamp of the London Olympics :)

There's nothing wrong with using top equipment, fortunately this is one of a few sports where the common guy can afford the best equipment.

The problem comes from the fact that some think just because a top shooter uses a particular piece of equipment, it will translate into a better performance for a lesser shooter.

Shooting a Steyr or a Morini or anything else is not going to get you any closer to winning a medal. The only thing that will get you there is lots of hard and smart training.

It's similar to the question above, the world records in both free pistol have really nothing to do with equipment.

I am 99.9% sure Ekimov used a feinwerkbau p34. That's what I shoot and in one of the frames there is a good close up of him opening the action. I have held and dry fired the p44 and know how it looks so that's why I am pretty sure (short of asking him) it's a p34.

Looks like an early air cylinder, before they started fitting gauges.

I was in doubt about cylinder band soon after frame connection.
I saw aluminium co2 cylinder with that elevated ring, but early air cilynder doesn't seems having it, for what i remember....

I had an early air LP10 (January 2000) with aluminium air cylinders without gauge and indeed they had no elevated rings while these rings exists on the CO2 aluminium cylinders.

I have a picture of the gold LP10 of Jesna from the Steyr web site and the pressure regulator (the piece on which the cylinder is screwed on) is black while it is silver on the Beijing pistol => seems that the regulator was changed (for a CO2 one ??).

Image

The trigger blade has also been changed: on the Steyr web site it is the current LP10 trigger blade (the silver wide one) while the one on the Beijing pistol looks like an LP1 trigger blade.

By the way, Nino SALUKVADZE bronze medals women also uses a Steyr => all three medals of women 10m were won with Steyr pistols.

In fact, all 8 finalists use a "Steyr technology" pistols: 1 Anschutz LP@ and 7 Steyr:

1 GUO Wenjun China > Steyr
2 PADERINA Natalia Russian Fed. > Steyr
3 SALUKVADZE Nino Georgia > Steyr
4 CHAIKA Viktoria Belarus > Steyr

6 SEKARIC Jasna Serbia > Steyr
7 NEVANSUU Mira Finland > Anschutz LP@ (Anschutz version of the LP10)

As soon as i saw Munich pics (posted above) i thought that pics posted on Steyr site were made for commercial purpose.
After posing for that pics, sure Jasna Sekaric return to her own match setting, in Munich and Beijing seems she could be using co2, and lp1 trigger blade and.... how many other faboulus secrets...? (lol)

I think Jasna Sekaric use a LP 10 air because you can see on the picture the 6 mm of the pressure reducer.

A Co2 Pistol has no pressure reducer and so the cylinder is close to the weapon. Nothing is between weapon and cylinder.

Here you will find pictures of the olympic games (shooting) including Jasna Sekaric:

[quote="jipe"] I have a picture of the gold LP10 of Jesna from the Steyr web site [quote="jipe"]

Besides personal preference, is there any advantage to having a gold finish, or another color, on one's air pistol? The Steyr LP10 comes in both black and a new silver finish ... any reason to select one over the other?

There's a big advantage, but if we told you we'd have to kill you.
