Watching Olympic shooting finals online?

Does anyone know where we might be able to watching the shooting finals for Beijing online other than NBC (doesn't allow outside of the US).

They sure as hell aren't going to be playing it on Aus TV, all they play is swimming an sprinting, heats and all.

We are all in the same boat no matter where you live. The TV companies are in effect a cartel. They are all protecting their rights for air time on what gets the biggest audience. Shooting as much as we love it is looked upon by the TV companies as a minority sport that warrants very little coverage. Its the chasing balls round a field, swimming or track & field that they are interested in as that is where the big audiences are. Even the ISSF are banned from live showing. The TV companies have cleaned up and there is not much we can do. Lay the blame at the feet of the IOC who are a bunch of blinkered idiots except when it comes to money.

A bit hard on the IOC, which contracts that ALL sports get covered and made available by the host broadcaster. It is the National networks that decide what they take from the host broadcaster and put on their broadcasts.

The question (topic) was 'watching Olympic shooting finals online".

All we've done is complain about TV companies.

So, does anyone know how/where to watch the olympic shooting online?

It looks like NBC will have it, but most likely will only be available to those in the US.

Well, a way around that is to use a US proxy (looks like you're surfing from the US).

http://www.stayinvisible.com/web_proxy_list.html

There's a list that shows countries (was honestly the first Google result). That's the best way I can think of that's Free, and pretty darn easy. The other way that costs some money it to rent a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection from a US company. These are normally used by people worried about security while using free wireless, it encrypts the information being sent so malicious folks can't track your information. But the way it works here is that those VPNs have an end in the US, so it looks like US traffic to NBC.

I'd try the proxy first, and the VPN second (there are LOTS of VPN companies out there, prices range all over the place and it looks like there are even some freebies starting to pop up).

Cheers,

Brian

Sorry, I wasn't aware it needed to be "live" finals.

Live or recorded I doubt whether ISSF-TV will show any of the Olympics, although I hope I am wrong.

The telling statement is on the ISSF-TV web site itself:-
"SORRY! The IOC DOES NOT AUTHORIZE MOVING IMAGES OF THE GAMES ON INTERNATIONAL FEDERATIONS WEBSITES."

I am pretty sure that they weren't allowed to show video, live or recorded, from Athens 2004 either.

The ISSF has no television rights, so there will be no Olympic shooting coverage on ISSF TV wether live or taped.

What a tease for US viewers...the above link tells me..

Content on the Beijing 2008 Live streaming video portal may only be viewed in certain European Broadcasting Union (EBU) territories. As we cannot confirm that you are accessing this service from within those territories we regret that you will be unable to view the content

Back to NBC...

What are you complaining about, I can't watch them on NBC nor the European one. Thanks CBC for nothing.

The eurovision sports one works for me. Had to run under IE rather than firefox but that works OK. Although it could be 'cos I'm in Europe.

Easy ... just have them shoot in bathing suits! Everything on TV seems to be Gymnastics, Swimming and Beach Volley Ball ... anything in skimpy out fits!
