Comp - Muzzle Brake Cleaner

Post by shadow »

Hi Folks,

I need to buy some muzzle brake cleaner to use on a Hammerli FP10 and Walther OSP. What does the forum suggest?

Thanks!

Breakfree CLP seems to work reasonably well. I think you'll find that if you soak the FP-10 comp in just about any reasonable solvent (varsol, Hoppes, etc) you'll soften the deposits and they'll be much more readily removed via light scraping. There's no solvent out there that will obviate the need for mechanical scraping. Anything that strong would also eat the compensator itself, I fear!

I have some stuff called Slip 2000 Shotgun Choke and Gas Piston Cleaner that is great on my shotgun chokes. It is non toxic, biodegradeable, etc. I have been thinking about using it on my FP compensator, but have have not yet tried it on aluminum. Will drop a piece of al in and let you know the results.
