Are there any prescribed break-in techniques for a new air pistol?

Yes, there is. Shoot good pellets like Vogel, and shoot a lot (especially 10's)

I'm planning on cleaning the barrel on mine really well with TSI301 and lots of patches to get all the preservative oil out. I understand that getting this lubricant out of the barrel will get it shooting well sooner.

I'm just starting out with air pistol, so take that with a big grain of salt.
