I was wondering it it was legal to put gel pads inside your boot? or some sort of sole insert that would make standing more comfortable.

Yep it's legal but soft inserts might not help you as much as you think, a properly fitted orthotic is the best way to go.

i had a real problem with foot pain from standing too long and my feet from mid calf down would go to sleep on me making it very difficult to shoot. i got the kurt thune memory foam inserts when i got my new boots and they've helped quite a bit. i still have my feet go to sleep on me, but i last longer and as long as i take a break after each target it won't affect the way i shoot.
