Hi Every one. I live in Arizona and I shoot running target. Since the Olympics decided to remove running target from the line up, i find myself being one of the very few in the states to continue shooting this discipline. Am i alone out here? Am i just unaware as to where i should be looking? To be honest i am a bit jealous that those in the other disciplines have friends to share their achievements and frustrations with. I am lucky to have a running target machine...any ideas on how i can share it with others, or just find others that still shoot r/t? Thanks for the help

Thanks for the reply! I am in Chandler 5 min down the street from Awhatukee. I cant say we have met...that i would remember! Its been a long time since i've been out to the PRGC. However, when i was much younger a coach we all called "Turkey" worked with me on my prone shooting. I was perhaps 14 at the time? I've thought about getting back into prone shooting, but at 30 now and w/o having shot prone since being 14(i began shooting at 7), I think i'd be starting over from scratch. Any how, I'd love the oppertunity to meet some olympic style shooters...even if they had no desire to shoot running target w/ me!!

Getting back into shooting.

Just a note, Billy, if you are getting back to prone shooting after a years... off of shooting.

I recently came back to prone shooting after a 15 year break. First time out, new gun, new ammo, no practice, shot master level scores.

You will find that you have not really forgotten anything.

Give it a try.

i might go out to Rio Salado for some prone & FP sunday

we have a tuesday night pistol league at PRGC alternate between NRA 90 shot & international centerfire 60 shot

there is a lot of NRA prone in the valley, with the biggest matches the roadrunner & wildcat coming up in march and I run an international smallbore & air gun at Ben Avery on the 4th sunday of each month (rifle & pistol) (that might be a good day to bring out your air gun target thing)

Turkey (Richard Anthony) passed away from some form of cancer in about 96.

Hey Bill, where can I find out info and match bulletins on the Wildcat and the Roadrunner matches? I might be able to round up a few shooters from Los Angeles.

Thanks,

Jeff at LAR&R

I too shot prone years ago, but none lately. In the first half of the 70's I used Win 52's. Nowadays our club is mostly into such riflry for Jr's and geezers. If I shoot my early 60's SuperMatch 54 I will be pretty close to geezerhood. I still have most of my old accessories except coat and mat. I don't want to use (invest in) leather armor. What substitute apparel is reasonable to use?

Still looking for the early Anschutz wood handled palmrest for the SM54.
