S&W A22 Target Grips

I'm new to target shooting and own a S&W A22. An experienced shooter showed me a better way to hold the pistol. This change kept me from turning the pistol slightly to the left just before the break.

I was wondering if purchasing better grip would also help. I have the rubberized grip that came with my pistol. S&W sells a wooden 'target grip'. Has anyone tried this grip? Is there a better grip from another manufaturer that would fit my pistol?

I have a 22A with the S&W laminated wood grip. It is a one piece grip that slides on from the bottom. From the factory it is much too thick. Some work with a Dremel will be needed to shape it to fit your hand. This is not for the feint of heart as I believe it is an $80 part. I started slowly and carefully with a sanding cylinder on the moto-tool relieving a little at a time until it fit well. To my knowledge no one makes an after-market grip for this gun. I have also fired a 22A with the rubberized plastic grips and found them to be adequate but not as stable in my hand as the custom formed grip. If you have wood working skill and a Dremel the wood grip is the way to go. But IMHO it is unusable as it comes from S&W unless you have hands the size of a Kodiak bear.

i have a 22a with the wood grip. its a good grip if the original is a little small for you because the wood grip is a bit larger. i haven't done any work on my grip but i just use it for plinking. it seems alot better to me then the the original. as for other grips made for it , i don't think there are any.

Yes, that is it. I ordered one yesterday and have my dremel ready to go :)
