Anschuz 2001 SSP

Post by retoohs »

Anyone willing to offer an opinion or experince with the Anschutz 2001 SSP? I understand they were manufactured for about 3 years in the early 1990s and was replaced by the 2002 SSP.

I have only found limited info on this rifle and it seems that it was prone to breakdowns since it used the Hammerli styled spring loaded gate/breech setup. It was also said that the loading mechanism was a pain since it was a nonreversible setup---could open gate once it was closed without recocking etc.

Please share your experiences---good or bad.

2001 is Superb

Loading gate - once familiar to its particular operations - is a no problem issue. If fact the 2001 it is more scope friendly then the lift-gate styled 2002 and possiblity, for some, an advantage in 3P. Nice rifle - particularly in walnut like our host has for sale on the used page.

You'll like the #6805 rear sight with anti-glare tube and #6834 radial front sight - terrific sight system allowing easy cant shooting.

2001 is typical anschutz build quality (superb) and parts/service is readily available.
