Wow Bill, for a second I thought you were going to sing their national anthem. Are you sure you aren't a spy? :-p Reporting on all the secret training tips found on this forum back to Yifu. No wonder they got so good :-p

Hey, is there a Chinese equivalent of targettalk? Maybe you can spy for us, go to their forum, and find what secret training tips they have, and post it on here!

Just a thought or two about China's (and recently the Soviet Union's) success in olympics and the shooting sports.

1. A very large pool of potential athletes to look at

2. A very early look into the pool

3. Testing and selection of the pool members

4. Post-selection, a very well structured system of training and support

5. Highly motivated post-selection members (lack of alternatives plus extrinsic rewards plus intrinsic motivations)

What would be truly amazing is if the FrUSSR and modern China **didn't** absolutely and completely dominate the olympic events - at least the ones that receive government attention.

yeah, what Steve said....

I have couple of great interviews from two of Chinas best that highlight what Steve has so precisely said that I will be posting shortly, as soon as I am home for more than 3 or 4 days at a time... which has,nt really happpened since late January sigh.. as I am looking out the window at the rain falling on the German countryside

and I also agree that it is pretty amazing that they do not dominate even more than they do. Probably would if unlimited entrys were allowed, but given the quotas of two per event, us other countries have a chance.
