Steyr LP 1 sight size question

Post by darticus »

I have a LP 1 with the 5.0mm front sight. Was this the standard for the
LP 1? I know the 4.5mm front sight was standard on the LP 10 as I also have it.

LP1 Sight width

Post by magyar »

4.5mm was fitted at factory as standard.
2 other widths came with the gun- I don't know which sizes and the manual does not say.

Sight...

I actually upgraded to the larger front sight. The thought process was, the larger the front sight, the easier it was to focus on. That theory worked for me...

At what point does the bigger is better argument fall down?
I've always found it easier to focus on a thinner sight blade. It can all be kept in focus without the eye tending to look from one top corner of the blade to the other.
Anyone else use a thinner blade? (less than 4 mm)

As soon as it starts.

There is no hard-and-fast rule. Some prefer a small front sight, others prefer a small one. Some people have long arms, others have short.

That's why the manufacturers make a range of widths.
