Gun for SP, silhouette

Post by Greg5850 »

Any recommendations as which .22 pistol to shoot to do both SP and silhouette. The silhouette will be standing, 1 or 2 handed, iron sights.
I checked out the earlier post re a SP/ RF gun. Anything different to add to do some silhouette shooting too?
I also shoot 10m/ silhouette with an LP10, so I would like to keep the feel as familiar as possible.
Thanks
Greg

Greg,
I shoot IHMSA silhouette and have lots of fun and shoot a lot of international stuff too. I use my free pistol (Toz-35m) for the unlimited iron sights .22 rimfire and shoot it one handed just like I would have to in the free pistol event. I know this is a disadvantage when the rules say you can shoot two handed but, it is just for fun. I still manage to hit about 20 of them critters. I use my high standard (5 1/2" barrel) for silhouette too and this is my standard pistol. The shorter barrel is a drawback for the 75 and 100 yd. critters but, as long as you do the fundamentlals of sights and trigger control you can still do well! I use my FWB 34 for the silhouettes too and with the wind blowing the rams at 54 feet can get very interesting as I have never measured but, have shoot in some 20-25 mph winds and am guessing the pellet is being moved about 6 inches bases on where I had to hold! So, to sum up, just shoot the guns you use in international and keep working on the fundamentals and enjoy it!
