Anschutz 2002CA dry-firing

Post by Sparks »

Folks,
The standard way to dry-fire a 2002CA is supposed to be to unscrew the cylinder a few turns so there's no air in the system to go down the barrel. Which is grand for training, but takes a fair few seconds and a fair bit of hooshing the rifle about as well.

Has anyone come across any problems with dry-firing one by cocking the action but not closing the breech before pulling the trigger? I've asked Anschutz's technical people but gotten no reply or response yet.

Can doing this trigger a suis ascor system? Will it damage my air rifle? Are there other problems I haven't thought of yet?

Sparks: I have dryfired mine a lot by not completely closing the breech. No problems. It is not totally satisfactory though since it seems the nature of the "click" seems to depend on how closed the breech is.

It won't damage the rifle, the only real issue to consider is the movement of the cocking lever as you fire, something that is obviously not present with the breech closed.
