A MD Club Wants More Participation for AP Matches and League

Post by Guest »

The Twelfth Precinct Pistol and Archery Club in Harwood, MD (about 15 miles SW of Annapolis) will hold NRA approved Air Pistol matches on December 18, 2005 and January 15, February 19, March 19, and April 16, 2006. Although NRA approved, their flyer states that NRA membership is not required. See "Competition Open To:" at the following link:

http://www.twelfthprecinct.com/page25.html

In addition to the matches, there is an informal 40-shot AP league that meets every Wednesday evening throughout the year at 7:00 PM. Club membership is not required for participation. There is a $2.00 per week league fee.

The Twelfth is also sponsoring the Maryland State USA Shooting Junior Olympic Sport Pistol/Air Pistol/Free Pistol Championship, which will be held at the US Naval Academy Range in Annapolis on December 11, 2005.

See the following link for more details:

If that's not enough "rounds down range" for you, the Twelfth also hosts a "Bullseye" League (very similar to Standard Pistol) every Wednesday evening at 5:30/7:00 (two relays) and most Saturday mornings at 9:00/10:30, and a very informal Air Rifle Silhouette match in conjunction with their Youth Days which are the fourth Sunday of each month from April through October. For more information on all this shooting you can contact:

George Petricko (psimica@localnet.com)

or visit the Twelfth's homepage at:

http://www.twelfthprecinct.com/

or use the contact info for the individual matches, found at their respective links above.

Or, an even better choice might be to just show up at one of their events. If you do, "just show up" for one of the leagues, mention my name to George and he may put your first week's league fee on my tab. He likes doing that to me...

Praise for 12th, pitch for another club

This is a great venue (albeit a bit more crowded now that they have 16 lanes in use). Matches are well run. Highly recommended.

Very convenient to Annapolis and DC (located just south of Annapolis on Rt 2).

That said, a pitch for my club: The Izaac Walton Wildlife Achievement Chapter has informal 60-shot matches every Monday evening at 6:30pm in Damascus, MD. Directions and other activities can be found at http://www.damascusiwla.org in a good location for those a bit farther west of Annapolis.

Best,

Joe

I'll second the praise for the 12th Precinct's AP matches. I haven't been shooting lately due to work pressures, but hope to make the December match.
