I currently own a LG-90. Does anyone know how long the seals typically last or how to change them? Are there any signs I should look for to tell me when I need to change them? Any information would be great. Thanks

LG-90 Seals

John -

The Walther's LG-90 is a high quality match air rifle worthy maintaining and capable of competent scores in the right hands. Not sure which seals (breech or compression chamber) your concerned about. Some initial suggestions.

1. To test the compression chamber seal, cock the rifle and let set over night. It should hold adequate pressure to shoot as if it just had just been cocked. Listening for air leaks after cocking is another test.

2. If you have access to a chronygraph the LP-90 with mid-7 weight pellets (say Vogel Yellow's) should be in the 570 fps range. (plus or minus 20 fps or so). Shoot at least a ten shot string paying attention to velocity consistency (big changes are no good). Anything below ~530 is problematic.

3. No chrony, then cock/load and shot the LG-90 but with a piece of tissue paper over the breech. It the tissue leaps off the breech when fired, a sign these seals may need attention.

4. Pellet holes through a proper functioning match air rifle/pistol should be clean/crisp. If ragged, good sign velocities have dropped to the point where maintenance/seals are required.

Not sure but if you need seals perhaps our host can handle the maintenance. If not, Champions Choice certainly can.

I've checked several repair places for Walther pellet rifles but have not had luck finding seals for my rifle! If anyone knows an outlet that does stock same I'd certainly appreciate a reply! Champion's Choice no longer stocks seals for this rifle.

Thank you!

Try Alan Zasadny. The last phone number I have for him is 319-334-7261. Very awesome air gunsmith with many resources and an outstanding field target rifle shooter.
