Hi everybody,

I'm an AP shooter since 9 months;and I will compete in Free pistol competition 2 weeks later. It will be my first experince in FP shooting. My coach has been already started to given some advice about FP shooting but I'm still need your kind suggest about it;because I'm so rookie as you guess. (on the other hand my AP scores not too bad;approximately 535 nowadays)I will shoot with old model of Hammerli, and his trigger weight is almost zero;it's very hard to handle pressure control on trigger also...

So I will be waiting your kind replies for this rookie:))

Best regards from Turkey....

I would suggest you treat it as a learning experience and don't worry about scores. I first shot my free pistol in a competition after no more than 40 shots practice and I'd never even seen one before that. If you want to practice with it then dry fire it to get used to the trigger.

I suggest that if your trigger weight is really low you might want to increase it some. You're more likely to lose points by accidently firing a shot before you are ready (and you usually miss the target totally). Just relax and treat it just like AP and practice the fundementals during the match and don't expect any great score. I think FP is probably my lowest scoreing event but I find it the most fun. It's like shooting AP it the beautiful outdoors.
