I'm a newbie to the air rifle seen, as I've always been a "powder burner". I was at a friends shop the other day and he had a mint Steyr LG10P he was willing to let go for 600 bucks. I almost bought it on the spot, as I was impressed with the quality, but I just don't know much about these rifles. Anyone got an idea on supportability for parts/quality of these rifles? Are they totally outdated? Is it worth 600 bucks in new condition?

Thanks for any info!

You should call Pilkington's. I think they service them and can tell you about how available parts are. I am pretty sure that $600 for that rifle is a very good deal.

If it is in as good condition as you say...I would be willing to pay you something to help me get it...if you don't want it.

I went ahead and bought it... Its a kick in the pants to shoot. Nice being able to do it in the backyard! Anyone got any ideas on where to start with as far as good pellets though? Ive tried RWS and Beeman without great results. The test target has just one little hole and I wanna duplicate it! (Yeah right!)

You should not have a real tough time duplicating the groups. Buy a tin of several different diamters of various good brand pellets and I bet it will do it. I always thought those particular rifles looked great- better than the new take-down rifle. I have not tried either so I am only going on looks.

I agree its a good looking rifle. Thats probably what drew me to it in the first place. I talked to Pilkingtons today about the vogel pellets and they said 4.48 and 4.49mm seemed to work well. So needless to say I gave them 250 bucks and theyre are sending me more than just a tin or two of pellets...Hahaha...I guess I dove off the deepend on the Airgun side too!
