We are very fortunate to have an increased interest from juniors to shooting,
10 to 14 years old.
Our main problem is the shortage of rifles suitably light enough for them to handle.
At the moment youngster rest the rifles on sandbags.
However some are ready to advance onto the slings.
Q. Can anyone suggest make and model of rifle you think would be suitable?

Anschutz 1451 Acheivers, the EAA CM2's are both good choices if you can still find them.

At 14 they should be able to handle full size rifles.

Another option is to modify your larger rifles. Cut down stocks and barrels.

My 13 year old daughter outgrew the club 1451 achiever she was using. The 1903's didn't have enough adjustment.

I found an old 1607 barreld action in a 1613 stock. It weightd about 12 lbs. It was still a bit heavy and way to muzzle heavy for her liking.

I sent it off to Neal Johnsons and they took 6" off the barrel and put an Aluminum Bloop Tube on it. End result took about a pound of weight off the muzzle and it balances much better for her now. Total cost for the gun and gunsmiting was less than half the cost of a new 1912.
