Improving sight picture

Post by EfewII »

I have recently gotten back into smallbore prone and 3-P shooting. Due to poor eyesight I am having a little trouble getting a clear sight picture. I have been looking into getting a rear sight iris with a combination color filter and magnifying diopter or a 1.5x lens for the front sight. My question is how well do these items work and will they help me any? Also, are they legal to use in NRA sacntioned matches?

I have the same vision problem and have found a diopeter a great help, although it took a while to learn how to use it. I like it better than the Eagle Eye front insert which I have experimented with also. They are legal in NRA competition, see NRA Rule 3.7.

I don't need adjustable focus magnification at 50 or 100 yards, but man it sure does help at 200, 300, and 600 yards (highpower).

The point is, the Gehmann and Anschutz rear apertures with variable focus magnifiying lens are amazing in their ability to clear the sight picture.
