In 1963/4 I used a Hi-Standard Olympic .22short for the Rapid Fire competition, at that time Walther started porting their barrels on their RF pistols. I drilled my barrel in three places, slowly using a new drill. I did not plug it first and there was no obvious fraze in the bore. Bench rested the gun was just as accurate after as before. Admittedly it was not a precision pistol but it got me to the British Empire and Commonwealth Games (as it was called then) in Jamaica 1966 and the World Championships in Phoenix Arizona 1970. Those were the days many rules have changed since then.
