BKL makes tall rings, and they are self centering (not slightly off to one side). I have never used them so I can't vouch for them, but I hear they are one of the best.

Many styles to choose from, also on their site are some riser blocks. In case you want them higher than BKL's ring standard which is listed as 1.57".

Hi Andre,

thank you for the link. I guess that I did not understand how rings are measured. I need a ring that is 1.5 inches from the top of the receiver to the bottom of the scope.

Kindest regards,

N

Also in my post I linked to some riser blocks they sell, to get the scope higher. I don't think you'll find rings that tall from the factory.

Hi Andre,

I did find some, unfortunately only for 1 inch scopes: http://www.morraccuracy.com/morraccurac ... rings.html.

Kindest regards,

plus

http://www.bkltech.com/BKL-0-6-Long-Dov ... kl-181.htm

gives you 1.659" of rail-to-scope height.

Alternatively, they also make a Weaver/Picatinny adapter (http://www.bkltech.com/Dovetail-to-Weav ... ts-s/7.htm) that will add 0.69" to whatever rings you choose. With the huge number of Weaver rings on the market these days (thanks, AR-style rifle craze!) you should be able to find something that works for you.

I would still look at BKL, but I'm not 100% sure about their range of 30mm rings, I don't think that the UK distributor carries the full range of their products. 30mm scopes are still quite a bit less popular than the 1" variety and the UK distributor only seems to show the really popular stuff. I guess it would help if we knew what part of the world you were in. Actually if you want specific advice then it would also help to know what rifle and scope combinations you were looking at, and the disiplines you would be shooting them in.

Hi Alan,

as noted in my first post, the air rifle is Walther, with 11 mm dovetail. I would like to try silhouettes and since the sights on my 10 m Walther gun is on a risers with the sight line about 1.8 inches above the receiver, I concluded that I need to mount the scope at about the same height.

I initially looked at dovetail rings, but could not find any with the required droop and height. So I thought about a dovetail to picatinny rail, which would (1) have droop built in, (2) raise the mounting height, (3) allow me to switch scope, and (4) is rumored to have close tolerances.

So, it appears that I am back to square one.

Kindest regards,

N
