TB - I am glad you've made the decision to get the factory involved. What we've seen in this part of the world is that very few gunsmiths and even fewer dealers know how to make and MG2 work, and few are willing to invest the time required to learn the peculiarities of this pistol. Some just say "it's not a Model 41 or a High Standard so I'm not interested." I've been asked to repair a few MG-2's and have been successful in some cases and not successful in others. I won't make a change which requires machining, simply because I do not wish to invalidate the warranty. Much better to have the experts in Italy do that kind of work.
The factory, on the other hand, seems to be able to turn around a repair in very short time. At one point I damaged my first MG-2 (yes, my stupidity) and arranged to have the top of the pistol transported to Italy by a shooter who was competing in the Milan World Cup. Matchguns took the part from him, repaired it, and incorporated some improvements and handed it back to him the very next day. All of this was done during what must have been one of their busiest business cycles. Without hesitation I agree with your statement that Matchguns is providing excellent factory service. I take my hat off to Stefano for setting a standard of customer service that all the other manufacturers can now strive to match.

This has been my experience as well. Stefano is untiring in keeping pistols working, and customers happy...a rare event nowdays.

MG Pistols
I have found that Stefano Calzetti has been a great help in the few problems I have had with my MG pistols. If it wasn't for him and his work ethic-I wouldn't have any of these MG pistols.
Yesterday I got my mg2 back. I don't know what the problem was, but they upgraded it to newest specs. by changing some parts. Now it works fine.
From what I can tell they changed:
-the secondary release lever (the long pin that releases the hammer) The old one was pretty much a straight pin, but the new one has a lot of curves etc.
-The thing that comes down from the blue top piece to hold the cartridge in the BIL has also been changed. the surface that touches the cartridge is now wider.
-The BIL has also been changed, one side has been cut shorter to make room for the wider piece described above and I think the place for the cartridge is now deeper.
More could have been changed, but this it what I could tell so I guess these are the main changes since my MG2 left the factory (serial 30XX).

From what I can see, the bullet insert lever and bullet positioning lever is the version that mine has been upgraded too.
Other than that, the visable difference between yours and mine (serial 30xx) is that thay apprently are fitting rapit fire slides on the standard versions now. I guess this would make an rapit fire upgrade kit cheaper, since it would only have to include the shrud and not a new slide?!

Last night I took it to the range again and the trouble continued, but now the main problem was the hammer following the slide forward. This resulted in the problem described above, no bullet in the chamber or bullet in the chamber but the hammer being in forward position. I don't believe it is a trigger/sear engagement problem, since I adjusted the trigger to a rolling like trigger and when the hammer follows the slide forward, the trigger is set. So the slide has been far enough back to set the trigger, but the hammer still follows the slide forward.
