Eurastus: Excellent. So long as the noise isn't audible from the garage I wont be exiled to the backyard to practice.

Isabel1130: Thank you for the link, I did some research over there and found lots of good info.

To everyone who has replied so far, thank you for the information. It has made this much easier to at least know what questions to ask.

The walls between my garage and the rest of the house are insulated. I suspect this makes some difference.

Go out to your garage and clap your hands hard. Ask her if she hears the sound. A hard clap should be about as loud as an airgun discharge.

Thoughts?

Ah in that case I'll be fine. I shoot primer only plastic wadcutters out of my .38 revolers on occasion and she's stated that is not that loud. A primer is quiet a bit louder then a loud handclap.
