It is my experience that most air pistol shooters are crossover shooters from bullseye. It is also my experience that, "If you build it, they will come." If you get involved in a bullseye club, it might be easy to introduce air gun. It takes a little money and a lot of work to get matches started. One could set up an indoor air gun range without all the ventillation requirements. It does take a few people who are willing to put in the time. If you really, really want to shoot air pistol and have matches, you might consider building a range and hosting events. Our club has air gun matches in the winter months. IMHO, like you say, there should be enough interest in air gun shooting in the LA metro area to fill up the line for air gun. If you have retrieveable targets, you can have a line that infiltrates, that being as one shooter finishes, another takes his place. Our matches are NRA approved.
