Where to focus w/ ring front sight aperture?

I have a rifle w/ diopter sights. Its front sight insert is a ring rather than a post.

When using these, do you focus on the target?

or

Do you focus on the ring and allow the target to blur?

Focus on the front sight, allow the bull to blur.

You should be able to have both the bull and front sight in focus (at least pretty well in focus). If you do not have an adjustable rear iris, get one, it will allow you to get your focus right.
