Reference TD Smiths record. Hasn't the course of fire changed ? Maybe suplanted would satisfy the ankle bighters. TD promised a "fly Over" for my wedding, I dont know if he could get his hands on any thing with wings and I havent ran into him since.so I'm not sure he accomplished the stunt. Good Shooting Bill Horton

Steve I have another gripe , Its hard enough to understand your concepts when you use common English. Consider MAXIMUM/ OPTIMUM/ MINIMUM. What is the word you made up suposed to convey ? Good Shooting Bill Horton

The list of coaches that have never won golds, worldcups, superbowls, titles, or world series, yet have had athletes under their coaching go on to achieve these thing is very long. The list of coaches that have been top athletes then have had other athletes that they have coached go on is much smaller.

The only thing that I agree with is if you can find a ex top athlete that can coach you well then that is probably the ultimate, but I wouldn't hold out looking for that very rare relationship.
There's a current example much closer to home. The US pistol team has performed significantly better this Olympic cycle than it did the previous two cycles, culminating with a very creditable showing at Beijing. The previous 2 cycles, the coach was one of the US all-time great pistol shooters, a man who set the still-current SP world record and got an Olympic silver in AP. The coach for the current cycle is not even a pistol shooter!

I'm certainly not qualified to say one coach is better than the other, but these simple facts would seem to prove that high level shooters can be successfully coached by someone who could not even begin to compete with them on the line. Coaching and shooting are two different things.

It's really not about who's a better coach. The coach athlete relationship is just that a relationship. One athlete might not do well with one coach where another will prosper with the same coach.

The target has changed three times since his record (I believe he shot on the one with the square head-box). It was only the last target change in 1989 that substantially changed the major scoring rings/areas (making them circular with reduced areas).

His World Record of 597 will never be beaten. The current World Record on the 1989 target is Nestruev's 594 from 2007.
