I just bought a M.E.C free position but plate for my Feinwerkbau smallbore rifle - what an improvement! Way more adjustability and over all a much better unit. I am now thinking about buying a similar unit for my Feinwerkbau air rifle. With the limits on the rules on the air rifle and the ammount you are allowed to adjust them, is an aftermarket but plate worth it (it appears many of the settings on my feinwerkbau but plate are allreadly maxed out)? Can someone who has replaced the factory but plate on their feinwkerkbau with a similar unit (Contact II or III) leave some sort of review as to what improvemnets were made?
Thanks!

I think your on the right track with the MEC buttplate. I changed my stock P700 buttplate for a MEC not long after I got it (I hate the stock buttplate).
The advantages of the MEC buttplate that I have found:
You can move the buttplate up and down to the maximum.
It's narrower then the stock buttplate which I like because I can lock it into my shoulder.
The stock buttplate always like to slip out of my shoulder the MEC does not.
It's moves as one piece, the stock one does not.
And it has much more adjustability then the stock plate.
I think is worth is $190+ that you will pay for it.

I think it is about personal choice, but replaced the aluminum buttplate on my Anschutz 2002CA with a Contact III, and it really worked for me. I like the rubber knobs on the Contact III, it seems to lock in more than the factory unit. I think it takes a while to perform the adjustments, and see if you really like it. I would suggest you buy one, test it for a month, and sell it if it doesn't work out. Certainly it is worth the effort. I wish I made the decision to buy it earlier.

I placed a MEC 170 butt plate on my FW 700 the day I got it but I had it already as I had it on my FW 300S which I sold.
Seems to be working out rather well and I didn't really care for the butt plate that came with the 700.
As for the cost, they are now selling for $300.00! But, that is for the 170 which comes with the hook assembly which of course I never use.

Guess I just can't get used to the idea of a forum site that allows a "guest" to post.
