About to buy the Daisy Avanti 887... Questions please...

Post by jlochey »

Group,

I own and really like the Daisy Avanti 753. I am an averaged size adult man.

But, my 753 was second hand and is a bit beat up, but more importantly, I no longer desire to cock a gun, I want to switch to some form of air.

I am only a week or so from buying a Daisy 887 from my local gun shop. The gun store can get one in a week for me. The CO2 powerplant of this gun will work perfectly for me, as I do not shoot that often and the gun shop can charge the cylinders for me quite economically.

So, after all that, the questions.

1) Can anyone tell me, is this gun exactly like the 753?

2) What parts are plastic?

3) Is the trigger better on the 887 then on the 753?

4) Are the "stock extenders" still plastic?

Any other comments about this gun are greatly appreciated...

887 has a slightly different shape on the forestock than the 753. The stock the same as an 888 from the trigger forward but is like the 753 from the trigger back.

Almost all other parts are interchangeable with the 753 except for the cylinder and adapter which adapts the cylinder to the 753 action.

Nope .... basically the same. With some work (such as found in "Tom Johnson's Sporter Tips") you can get is down to the 2lb area.

I don't like to go any lighter as the adjustment is a sear adjustment and with temperature differences it may go off when you close the bolt.

Even so .... stick with 2 to 2-1/2 lbs and you'll be happy
