New Walther SP22

I am an Field Target shooter from Portugal, and I am doing the first steps in ISSF Standard/Rapid Pistol 25 mts.

Does anybody know some information about this weapon...???

I would strongly recomend you not to use a SP22 for any serious ISSF shooting, especially not rapid fire.

It's specification on paper looks great, however its so new that is is something of an unknown.

Alternatives currently used extensively for RF include the AW93 and the Pardini's.

One point you may wish to consider is the Pardini SP1 Rapid Fire (http://www.pardini.it/) It has an electronic trigger, which as I understand it -permits dry firing without re cocking or moving the firing pin. This is a very valuable training feature particularly for timing exercises.

Unfortunately this feature currently is unique to pardini. Some air pistols can do it and get used for RF training for that reason. There may be other mechanical RF pistol that can do multiple clicks for this kind of training, can any one help out hear? the only one i know was the walther OSP but that was 22short ?

Check with pardini first on the the dry fire capabilities of the RF version, they do answerer emails.

Yo Stefano, where's your commercial for the MG2E? Got my one back, btw, after two months - seems to be working, but of course it's warmer now than in January.

Tyco is correct, I had forgotten about the MG2E which can do the multi dry fire as well.

..... well.... with the wind form the south, a full moon and Cezar no less that 6 feet away with a screw driver in his hand .... Just kidding!

Julian, I think you might be talking about the SSP, not the SP22.

The SSP is an out-and-out competition pistol (which might still need a bit of developement and refinement).

The SP22 is listed by Walther in their "Defence" section. This does not automatically mean that it won't be good for ISSF Standard or Rapid, but I would have my doubts.

Well spotted Dave, you are right that is indeed what I was think off my dyslexia getting the better of me.

Ok so we are talking about a completely different price range.

The SP22 is unknown to me so I can't comment.

You could consider the Hammerli x-esse whic is a similar price range to the SP22 and I believe is based of th old Hammerli 208 which still holds world recoreds

I think there is a mechanical triggerunit for the old standard GSP that can do 5 clicks. But I don't think it will fire the gun, it's for practice only.

And we have a 1000gr trigger unit for the 280 that resets automatically after each "shot" - AFAIK unique, and never went into serial production. Haven't figured out how it works, though...
