Delayed Air Release

I have a 2002 Anschutz and when I unscrew the cylinder it makes a little air release sound and then it takes like 15 seconds or so before it lets the majority of the air out. (I usually tap on it and it comes out...otherwise, when I close the bolt to let all of the air out, the first time I do it has a full charge, and I don't like doing that after a match) I heard that this could be a sign that the regulator is going bad. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Thank you
