Questions on 10m air rifle competition
I'm new to AR competition, and had a few questions about what equipment is allowed and what each competition is. First, are there any NRA or American-style AR matches, or do most conform to International standards?
For equipment, is it allowed (and do people use) handstops and slings? I trust shooting gloves, jackets, pants, etc are all allowed. Can blinders be mounted on the rifle itself, or do they have to be on the shooting glasses. What are the requirements for the sights? Can any of the adjustable front or rear peep sights be used? What about ones with colored filters and polarizers?
As for the matches themselves, are they conducted offhand or 3p style? How many shots total?
I know I've thrown a lot of questions out there, but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Air Rifle
IIRC, ISSF air rifle is standing, and NRA has 3P Air Rifle also.
You can download the ISSF Rules from the USA Shooting and ISSF websites.

3 position shooting is 3 x 40 for men and 3 x 20 for women, at least for ISSF 3p, as per the olympics etc. It is shot with smallbore rifles though not air.isuguncoach wrote:Air rifle matches are usually 60 shots. International Air is 60 shots standing, 3-position is usually 3X20. Your personal shooting clothing is OK. Handstop and sling are used in Prone and Kneeling phase of position matches. Any of the sights you mentioned are usable in air rifle matches.
Rob.
All sights are legal as well as sight excessories so long as there is no magnification (ie. scope or iris with magnifying lenses). As for blinders, they are legal on the rifle but there are certain size limits that i can't say off the top of my head but I like to have my blinder as small as possible anyway so long as I cant see the target with my left(right handed shooter) eye.
