There is a small number of top air rifle shooters round the world that have misgivings about air rifles with stabilisers. They (no names mentioned) prefer to feel a slight kick on shot release and say that a completely 'dead' rifle has not improved their scores. They are quick to point out that they do not mean a kick that the pre stabilised weapons gave but somewhere between the 2 is ideal for them.
Its worth noting that scores of 590+ were being achieved by pre stabilised weapons a few years ago.
I have a foot in each camp on this one!

Howdey,
I have found that the extra wieght keeps
the rifle a little bit more still for a little longer
till that slow moving pellet gets out of the barrel.
I can hold still but I want the rifle to hold still during
the shot. Newtons first law applies.

Stabilizers

I guess you are right, Many top shooters round the world have struggled to adapt from a non stabilized air rifle to those with a stabilizer.
It took me a good 6 months and my scores are only just reaching my old non stabilized (FWB 601) scores.
I use a Steyr LG100 and compared to my old FWB its 'dead'.
