AA S400 MPR...Anyone else shooting 1?

Post by Dcr »

I recently bought one of these to shoot informal 10m. I have accessorized the rifle with the adjustable butthook as well as the muzzle extension. The gun has a fine trigger, and the stock once adjusted fits very well. It also seems as accurate as any gun I have shot. Although I'm just a novice shooter to say the least. I'm currently shooting the gun scoped, and do have a problem with the muzzle extension. It seems with the extension off, the rifle is more pellet friendly, with the extension on it seems more finiky to pellet choice. I'm not sure if its just due to the balance change?, or harmonics? None the less I removed the extension and I'm very happy with the performance. I'm just a little concerned that when and if I go back to the aperature sights and must use the extension, if I will be going through pellet problems. Anyways just writing to see if anyone else is shooting one of these guns and what your impressions are.

TIA
Dave

MPR 400

Yes we have "lots" (meaning more than 100, less than 500) of MPR rifles in South Africa.

My own son uses one to shoot the sporter class in our schools shooting program [Similar to the American AVANTI program] (About 1000 registered shooters). My son uses the FWB P700 for precision class and also for 10m olympic (AR60).

The dominant rifle was the AA T220 and now the MPR400 is phasing in.

My views on the rifle:
Perfect sporter rifle:- balance, weight, accuracy, trigger and also durability: You cannot improve it signficantly WITHOUT spending significant more money.

The MPR400 requires far less maintenance than the T200 (especially the trigger)
