Apart from Scuba tanks and handpumps , what other means are available to fill gun cylinders...
Can they be filled directly from a compressor ??

our club has a small compressor designed for filling 1 cylinder at a time, it is slow and noisy (and broke once spilling oil all over the floor)
I don't remember what company made it, Gehman maybe, so such things do exist
Scuba is MUCH easier
IF you have access to a place that can sell and fill a scuba tank, which is no problem here in my desert, 700km from the nearest drop of salt water, your desert might be different though :)

Nitrogen or argon tanks used for welding can be used to refill guns with the proper adapters. This requires a bit of skill since the pressures may be very high in such cylinders -- a regulator is not required but would be helpful (http://www.airghog.com sells the regulators). The performance of the gun will be essentially identical (especially at 10 meters).
