Anschutz. 2 or 4?

Post by Guest »

Has anybody had any experience with the new four bolt system on the .22 rifles? I have heard that they don't shoot too well without hours of tuning.
A list of pros and cons (opinion, of course) between the older 2 bolt recievers and the newer 4 bolt ones would be very helpful.

I don't know who told you that but the test card that came with my Anschutz 2013 (4 bolt) was pretty impressive!! And thats before any tuning whatsoever before it left the factory!

Nothing wrong with the 2 bolt design ala Match 54 etc I had one that was great accurate rifle.

That said my 4 bolt 2013 is now outperforming it, that might be due to the new barrel as much as the new type receiver.

I've heard nothing but praise for the new 4 bolt receiver.

You must be listening to some benchrest shooters. It seems that 3p and prone shooters don't share their oppinion of the 2013's. I sure love my 2013.

i also heard a wild rumor about Anschutz discontinuing the 4 bolt mounting system due to these complaints. Anyone heard anything similar? different?

2 or 4 screws

Last week I tuned a 2013 for the first time. Tuning was done in less then an hour and worked perfectly. Compared to the 2-bolt system I feel that the 4-bolt system is more sensitive to small changes in torque. A change of 0.12 Nm made a great difference in spread of a 5-shot group.
Although I am a Walther-shooter, my experience is that accuracy of the 4-screw system is not worse than the 2-screw system.

Would somebody be able to explain the art of setting the torque screws of a 2013 four bolt? Before I get castrated I have tried several searches which did not turn up a procedure. First do you set-up the four bolts at let’s say 18 inch pounds shoot some groups; then what?
