Diana 75 Front Sight Question
I recently purchased a Diana 75. The front sight has an adjustable reticle (compressed o-ring). Can it be replaced with a standard front sight insert? And if so, how?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yes. Provided that a Diana 75 and an RWS 75 are the same thing (my RWS 75 has a one piece muzzle cap and plastic front sight assy - ie I can't take the front sight off! Does that sound familiar?)
Anyway - based on my foggy memory - you'll basically remove all the guts pertaining to the o-ring gizmo, and there should be the slot ?to drop a regular aperture in. Hmmm, I think you reuse the end that you unscrewed when you removed the guts. MMMM - do you need the black plastic ring with the two little springs? OR is that just for insertion? Maybe there's no slot at the top, and you have to push the ring in?
Jeez Louise! Sorry I don't remember exactly, but "I garontee" that you can do it, because we've done the same thing with mine at the rifle club, for different shooter's tastes.
If you don't have it already, you'll need the front sight "kit" from RWS - it's a small (1" dia x 3" lg) plastic tube with inserts, plastic gizmo, etc. See if RWS or their repair shop can send you one.

Diana 75 front sight inserts
I posted this a while ago and finally got around to following up on the answer. I called RWS and Tim said that removal of the adjustable front sight and replacing with a fixed insert was a user mod - nothing available from Diana. Anyone out there found an aftermarket source for fixed inserts for this front sight? The sight doesn't have the traditional drop in slot but custom made clear round inserts might work?
Thanks
Thanks
The Diana 75 front sight is 18mm. You might wnat to give Champions Choice a call about the Anschutz accessory front sight clamping knob made to hold clear or colored 18 mm front sight inserts. Not sure on threads but if it works you have a solution.
Anschutz 7001320
ANS 6822-12 CLAMPING DISK TO HOLD APERTURES

Thanks, but . . . . . . . . . .
Thanks for the response Jim (and for the gun), but I tried that. The 18mm clear insert is too small to replace the adjustable mechanism located in the rear of the sight. And it is too large to fit into the front. And even without the aperture inserted, the clamping disk won't thread into the front or rear of the sight. The rear threads are much coarser (to accomodate the plastic fitting I suspect). The front threads appear to be the same, but won't thread up. I think the "fingers" on the clamping disk are bottoming out in the sight before the threads can catch.
The "simple" answer would appear to be to find/make an aperture about 20mm, remove the adjustable mechanism and relpace it with the 20mm insert. Note, I said "appear to be". :) Seems like nothing is ever "simple".

OK, Plan 2.
There is a gentleman in Great Britian who makes custom clear front inserts but I need to do a little research to locate his email information. Think a full set of 8 is something like $30.00.
Send me an email so i can get back to you with the information. There is a solution.

Thanks Jim . . . .
I emailed Neil and he responded immediately. The price is $25, shipped for 10 clear inserts, your choice of inner diameter. I'll experiment with some 18mm inserts tonight to determine which sizes work best for me and order at least one set, probably two.
So thanks again for the help. Par for the course, you are always number one in service!!
Having said that, have you found that Junior for me? Or rather for my bride. No real hurry - she doesn't know it's coming. At least not yet, unless she's snooping in my email!
Your help is always much appreciated,
Fred
